I want to tell you about an experience I had this week. It made me realize a lot of things about productivity, motivation and planning that I hadn’t thought of before.

This is a pretty different blog post from normal but I thought it was a valuable learning experience so I wanted to share it with you.

Crazy Productive Day

At first I had nothing to do so I just decided to experiment with some fog textures I had downloaded for Photoshop the day before. This action somehow got me into working towards improving my business.

I had had an idea for a product for a long time but that hadn’t gone anywhere. Randomly, I just started making it and ended up finishing the product itself that same night.

Now, this is not normal for me. It normally takes days or even weeks to finish even a small product.

That same flow then got me to update my entire website to spring theme that I had been prolonging for a while. I finished that and also, made a completely new page for my website. (You can check it out below)

Then I did some other stuff too and went to the gym, but the point was that I have never got so much done in one day. And it got me thinking on how can I keep this up in the future.

The funny thing is that the same flow continued the next day and I literally didn’t do anything else than work towards my business and go to the gym. A fully productive day. Crazy.

What did I learn?

I realized that you need to understand yourself in order to be fully productive. I have always said that just start, the motivation will come. While I still stand behind this, I now understand it’s much more than that.

The reason I find myself procrastinating isn’t because I don’t feel motivated but rather because of not having plans on what to do.

You see, I don’t work very well with calendars or timelines but I have now realized that I still need a plan to get things done. When I have a fully built list of ideas and things to do, I can do the things when I feel like it.

Going forwards I will start writing up all the ideas and plans that come to my head and then go though them once per week. Then I make a dedicated list of things I need to get done and then do them when I feel like it.

I really feel like this adjustment will boost my productivity a ton. I really recommend trying to find the right setup for yourself if you've been struggling with the same problems I was because it feels so good to finally get things done.

What keeps me motivated?

Related to the topic, I wanted to share with you what keeps me motivated as an entrepreneur and a photographer. Many people would think that it’s money, but you have to realize that I’m only at the start of building my own business.

I’m only building the foundation of my business so I don’t actually even profit from my business yet. While that can be demotivating at times, it’s not that bad when you think of the long game.

The core of my motivation is definitely in my healthy lifestyle. I go to gym every other day, eat healthy food, sleep alot, do cardio, etc. And let me clarify: I don’t live a perfect lifestyle. I still enjoy gaming, eating snacks, staying up late, and so on.

My point is that keeping yourself happy and positive, will make you sustain your motivation. It’s also important to remember to take some time off and relax at times.

What's coming in the near future?

Only a month until Summer and my Interrail trip! Blog posts will release as normal so make sure to check back in every Thursday!

During this month I will be starting a 30-day series on photography tips & tricks on Instagram to help you create better photos. This has been in the plans for months and finally, (also thanks to this crazy productive day) it's finally starting!

I will cover the most important topic in detail in form of blog posts so expect to see those in the upcoming weeks!

But for now, I'll see you next week with another blog post!
